What made Apple so successful? And why can’t Android compare?

by on Nov.27, 2011, under Apple, Technology

To put it simply? Steve Jobs. Some may call him a tyrannical, egotistical jerk that simply wanted things done his way, but to me he was a genius, a visionary. He did crave perfection in every facet of his existence, but that goal drove him to become one of the biggest leaders of the technology world. His lust for synergy, the idea that everything works together perfectly, is something that many people, myself included, have found enthralling. There is no other group of devices on this planet that work so well together than Apple’s fleet of iDevices.  (continue reading…)

Mac vs. PC

by on Nov.25, 2011, under Apple

Well, another day of needless overeating on everyone’s part has come and passed and now we have the biggest holiday of the year to look forward to… CHRISTMAS! I’m seventeen now, and in reality this will probably be both the last Christmas where I don’t have to spend any money or buy anyone anything and it will also be my last Christmas where I receive a huge gift. This year, as I did last year, I asked my parents for a Mac Mini. I love my gaming computer that I built back in June and it shits on the Mac Mini in terms of specifications, but I have grown over the years to despise Windows. And I mean despise it. I began back on Windows XP in the year of its release and over the years have progressed on from that, to Vista(where my hate began to manifest itself and where I also discovered the beauty of Apples products) and now on to Windows 7. Not only is Apples operating system a beautiful thing, but their hardware… oh god their hardware is just downright sexy.

Essay I wrote for fun back in December 2010

by on Sep.23, 2011, under Opinions & Essays, Personal Life

Ever since the beginning of this latest Wikileaks public disclosure of confidential documents, I have been intrigued by not only the prospect of an honest and transparent journalistic organization whose primary concern is the freedom of information that relates to the public, but also by the potential ramifications that such an organization could have on human society within the developed world as a whole. Along with countless others the world over, I have been entranced by this mysterious institution whose every act has been to the ire of big business and the ruling class. As if to intensify my enchantment, at its helm stood a paradigm of our accomplished species, a self-taught polymath turned activist and public relations expert whose every word oozed boundless charisma. But then my research into this enigmatic organization assumed a darker tone as rumors of malice and deception abounded. I learned that some suspected that this group was an illusion created by the very entities that it claimed to despise, a ruse orchestrated by the corporate and governing hierarchy to both justify a restriction of the free dissemination of information embodied by the internet and entrap those willing to expose the corruption of the modern aristocracy by divulging the details of their misconduct. I read about allegations of CIA and Mossad connections; accusations of affiliations with the American tycoon George Soros and his various financial and political interests; and doubts in relation to Wikileaks’ funding and origin, as well as that of it’s ubiquitous representative, Julian Assange. I listened to the anxieties of Alex Jones and Wayne Madsen, Webster Tarpley and John Young. I entertained the thought that this turn of events was just too good to be true, that this apparent miracle of democracy and transparency was just another puppet dancing to a tune.
